The Purpose of  Practicum  

  • Develop and improve the teaching skills of prospective teachers and learn about systems, teaching methods, and student characteristics.

  • This is a platform that facilitates prospective teachers to experience teaching abroad, applying the knowledge gained during the lectures.

Procedure of Practicum  

  • The first thing to do before teaching practice is to conduct class observations, find out the characteristics of students because each student has different characteristics, identify the learning methods used by the teacher, what the usual learning steps are, and find out how the teacher manages time and class.

Outcomes of Practicum  

  • There are so many benefits and experiences that I get when teaching practice in the future school, such as how to make lesson plans for teaching because the lesson plans used at school are different from the lesson plans used in my country, teaching strategies, and time management that teachers use when teaching, and how to deal with students who have difficulty when the learning process takes place. The last is that I learned how each learning step in the lesson plan can go well and how to deal with unexpected problems when the learning takes place.

Challenges of Practicum  

  • The challenge I face when teaching practice is how to manage the class and handle students. Each student has different abilities and characteristics; some students understand the learning material quickly, and some students are a little late in understanding the material. This is a big challenge for me to make each student understand the material at the same time and follow the learning well.

Suggestion 

  • My suggestion for the future is to adjust the schedule of student activities at the teaching practice school and the receiving campus, because these two schedules greatly affect student activities. Therefore,  it is necessary to ensure the schedule of each student's activity during this program. 

Overall Impression 

  • With the SEA-Teacher program, it is very helpful to facilitate students, especially students from the teacher faculty, to develop their potential, improve teaching skills, practice directly what has been learned during lectures, and provide new experiences while learning culture.

Farewell & Best Wishes

 Time To Say Good Bye A few days before returning to Indonesia, Dong Thap University held a farewell party for Sea Teacher Batch 9 students. At this farewell party, Sea Teacher students, students, and lecturers from Dong Thap University had fun together, such as playing games, singing, and dancing together.   After the farewell party came the farewell day, which was the last day there. To go to SGN airport, we had to first go to Ho Chi Minh City because the distance from Ho Chi Minh City to SGN airport is quite close. We went there on 6/10/2023 because we left in the morning. We had breakfast together with one of the lecturers from Dong Thap University.  After a fairly long journey from Cao Lanh City to Ho Chi Minh City, which is about 3–4 hours, we finally arrived in Ho Chi Minh City around the afternoon.  Curriculum  The curriculum structure used by the future school consists of language, math, science, art, technology, morals, and sports. Teaching Plan (English)    Teaching Practice   My teaching  Practice schedule during my time at Future School.   In my teaching practice, I was scheduled to teach the same class (9D) four times with two different teachers. For learning materials, each teacher gave me a book that they usually use to teach in that class. There are two books that I get, namely student books and workbooks. The day before the teaching practice, I submit the lesson plan both to the original teacher of the subject and to the supervisor to ensure the material to be delivered is appropriate or not.
